Baggage Car

The baggage car is designed to hold passenger baggage as there is little room in the passenger car or most sleeper cars for anything but "carry on" bags. There are two sets of baggage shelves at either end of the car, withfive shelves each, with space in the middle for larger items. These cars are often used to move light freight as well. A passenger needing access to their bags may ask an attendant, who will accompany him/her to the car. Baggage cars are also often contracted to carry other items as well, such as small freight or surface mail. Typically, the baggage cars are located in the forward section of the train.
